Wellington Festival

Trails Wellington has been exploring the idea of Wellington hosting a Mountain Bike Festival in early 2026. The Wellington Mountain Bike Club and everyone we've spoken to are keen to work together to help make this happen.

Community Workshop

We've held a workshop with a big turnout from our community. Members of the trail areas, riding groups, several bike shops, bike coaches, bike manufacturers, Wellington NZ, and an event organiser all gave up their time to come together and put forward their ideas and thoughts. It was an incredibly positive and motivating session.

Festival Plans

The current thinking is to hold an event centred at Waitangi Park with the opportunity for stands and displays from our partners, industry players, along with the requisite food and drink stands. The festival programme will include a small number of events, and whilst far from finalised, expect events along the lines of including fun races, bike demos, skills-based activities, and other activities that promote mountain biking, our community and showcase our fab trail network.
