Peak Flow was originally built by Makara Peak as one of the first flow trails in Wellington. However, the trail has little canopy cover, is exposed to the wind and rain and therefore it deteriorates reasonably quickly, turning from a smooth grade 3 into a rough and rocky grade 4. After helping MPS with one rebuild that only lasted for a couple of years, TW and MPS have been in discussions with WCC and TTS about how a different approach can be taken to rebuilding Peak Flow for a third time. A bigger digger, using some different, more durable materials, more planting? The latest project is due to get underway in 2025. TW will support both MPS and WCC in this project, with the goal being a fairly wide easy descent from the summit of Makara Peak in the direction of the main car park on South Karori Road that will be more fun and last longer than the last couple of builds. The trail builders are back. The diggers are back; the ride will get better.
